About the Strymon Lex Rotary
The Strymon Lex is a essentially a Leslie speaker in a box, but in typical fashion Strymon have been through painstaking research to create a rotating speaker simulator that is head and shoulders above other pedals. The four controls give access to the primary elements of a leslie effect namely speed and horn level plus the adjustable preamp drive and mic distance give full adjust to get the perfect old school rotary sound from the Lex without the need for a huge (and incredibly heavy) cabinet

Sounds Great. It’s addictive.

This is my third Rotary pedal and I’m really pleased with it. It has a really fat warm sound that is extremely addictive! I’d say its voice is slightly more mids-forward than the others I’ve tried, but that’s a good thing I.m.o. as it imparts authenticity and cuts through the mix better. At first I had reservations about the layout, as I usually dislike secondary functions on a pedal. But this is actually really user friendly. And I love the option for Stereo ins & outs. The ramp time options are very useable and offer beautifully smooth transitions between the two rotor speeds. I also dig the aesthetics and relatively compact format. My only gripe is I wish it had more drive on tap. But then it’s fun to use the Lex in conjunction with other drive pedals. I find it’s particularly good to stack drives pedals before and after Lex. All in all I’m very chuffed. It’s on my board for keeps.
